Question
I have formulated a toner for oil control with the following ingredients and percentages:
- Licorice Extract (Licochalcone A) 0.5%
- Zinc PCA 1%
- L-Carnitine 2.5%
- Phenoxyethanol SA (Optiphen Plus) 1%
- Water 85%
Is this formula suitable? How can I improve its skin absorption and adherence?
Answer
Regarding your proposed toner formula for oil control:
Your formula is suitable for its intended purpose. The ingredients you've included are:
- Licorice Extract (Licochalcone A) 0.5%
- Zinc PCA 1%
- L-Carnitine 2.5%
- Phenoxyethanol SA (Optiphen Plus) 1%
- Water 85%
Based on the staff's recommendation, you can enhance the formula further:
- Adding Ethoxydiglycol at 3-5% can help the formula penetrate the skin more easily.
- Adding Flora Solve Clear at 1% can help reduce water beading on the skin and allow the formula to adhere better.
These additions are suggested to improve the performance and feel of the toner.
