Question

Can Triethyl citrate dissolve in water up to 4-5% without using a solubilizer like FloraSolve? I want to use it in a water-based formula and prefer not to list "Fragrance" high on the ingredient list, which I believe FloraSolve might require.

Answer

Triethyl Citrate Solubility in Water

Regarding the solubility of Triethyl citrate in water, based on general chemical properties, Triethyl citrate has limited solubility in water. Achieving a concentration of 4-5% in water without a solubilizer like FloraSolve is generally difficult and may result in the solution becoming cloudy or separating.

To effectively incorporate Triethyl citrate into a water-based formula at concentrations like 4-5%, a solubilizer is typically required to ensure clarity and stability of the solution.
