Question

Hello,

I would like advice on how to dissolve Panthenol (Pro Vitamin B5, DL-Panthenol, Powder) in water without causing sedimentation.

I have tried dissolving it in water multiple times, but sedimentation still occurs after leaving it for a while. Could you please advise on how to dissolve it so that no sedimentation occurs?

Thank you.

Regarding Dissolving Panthenol (Pro Vitamin B5, Powder)

Hello,

Thank you for your question regarding dissolving Panthenol (Pro Vitamin B5, Powder) without sedimentation.

Based on the product information for Panthenol (Vitamin B5, DL-Panthenol, Powder), it is described as easily water-soluble and should not coagulate. The recommended mixing method is to mix it into the water phase of your formulation.

If you are experiencing sedimentation after dissolving it in water and letting it sit, here are a few points to consider:

  • Concentration: Ensure you are using the recommended concentration range (0.5-10% for skin, 1-3% recommended). Using a very high concentration might exceed its solubility limit, especially over time or with temperature changes, leading to recrystallization or precipitation which appears as sediment.
  • Complete Dissolution: Make sure the powder is completely dissolved initially. Stir or mix thoroughly until no visible particles remain.
  • Water Quality: While less common, impurities in the water could potentially interact or affect solubility over time. Using distilled or deionized water is generally recommended for cosmetic formulations.
  • Storage Conditions: Ensure the solution is stored properly.

The product description indicates it is easily soluble, so complete initial dissolution at an appropriate concentration should prevent sedimentation. If using a high concentration, try reducing it to see if the issue persists.

We also have D-Panthenol Care (Pro-Vitamin B5, 100% Liquid) available, which is a liquid form that is also easily soluble in water and might be an alternative if you continue to face issues with the powder form.

I hope this helps!
