1. Can it be applied directly to the face?

It is not recommended to apply this product directly to the skin at 100% concentration. Skin-Barrier™ is a concentrated cosmetic ingredient designed to be used as part of a formulation.

• Applying it directly may feel heavy or not provide the best skin feel, as it is designed to be dispersed in a base (like a cream, lotion, or serum).

2. If mixed with water, do you need to add a preservative?

Yes, absolutely. If you mix Skin-Barrier™ with water to create a DIY serum or mist, you must add a preservative.

• Although the ingredient contains 1,2-Hexanediol, once you dilute it with water, the concentration of the preservative becomes too low to prevent the growth of bacteria, mold, and yeast.
• Without a proper preservative, the mixture will spoil very quickly (often within a few days).
• Recommendation: You should use a broad-spectrum preservative (such as Phenoxyethanol SA) at the recommended rate (usually 1%) to ensure the safety and shelf life of your mixture.
