Question

I have Squalane that expired in 2016. Can it be used for anything? Is it dangerous to apply it on the face or skin?

Answer

Regarding Expired Squalane

Using Squalane that expired in 2016 is not recommended for application on the face or skin.

Cosmetic oils, like Squalane, can degrade and oxidize over time, especially when stored for many years past their expiration date. This degradation can alter the oil's properties and potentially lead to skin irritation, breakouts, or other adverse reactions when applied.

There are no safe, recommended alternative uses for cosmetic ingredients that have expired so long ago. The quality and safety cannot be guaranteed.

For your safety and skin health, it is best to discard the expired Squalane.

While fresh Squalane (Olive) typically has a good shelf life of at least 36 months, an expiration date of 2016 is far beyond this period.
