Usage of Double Hyaluron Liquid: Concentration and Skin Drying Concern

Question

I understand that using 20% of Double Hyaluron Liquid (which is a 5% solution) provides 1% active Hyaluronic Acid in the formula.

Can I use more than 20%? I am concerned that using a higher concentration might cause the skin to dry out by drawing water from it.

Answer

Double Hyaluron Liquid Usage

Regarding your question about using more than 20% of Double Hyaluron Liquid and the concern about it drawing water from the skin:

  • Double Hyaluron Liquid is a 5% solution of Hyaluronic Acid. Using it at 20% concentration in your formula means you are adding 1% active Hyaluronic Acid.
  • The recommended usage rate of 1-20% is a general guideline, especially for achieving a certain texture and typical hydration levels.
  • While it is true that very high concentrations of pure hyaluronic acid can potentially draw water from the skin in extremely dry environments, using a 5% solution like Double Hyaluron Liquid slightly above the recommended 20% in a typical cosmetic formulation is generally safe and is unlikely to cause your skin to dry out by drawing water.
  • You can try increasing the concentration of Double Hyaluron Liquid slightly beyond 20% to see if it provides the level of hydration you desire, as long as the resulting texture is still acceptable to you (not too sticky).
  • If increasing the amount significantly still does not provide sufficient hydration, you may need to consider incorporating other moisturizing ingredients into your formulation, as discussed previously.
