Question

Hello,

For Copper Peptide, if used at 3% in an Aloe Vera gel base, can it be applied to the eyebrows and eyelashes to make them longer? I have an issue with short eyelashes and thin eyebrows.

Will it sting the eyes after applying?

Answer

Copper Peptide for Eyebrows and Eyelashes

Regarding the use of Copper Peptide (GHK-Cu) at 3% in an Aloe Vera gel base for lengthening eyebrows and eyelashes:

  • Mechanism: Copper Peptide (GHK-Cu) is known for its ability to nourish hair roots and stimulate new hair growth, rather than significantly lengthening existing hair strands. This aligns with the information provided in the previous reply.
  • Concentration: A 3% concentration is within the recommended usage range for the liquid forms of Copper Peptide (GHK-Cu) solutions.
  • Application on Eyebrows and Eyelashes: While the product descriptions mention stimulating hair growth generally, they do not specifically address application on eyebrows or eyelashes. When applying any product near the eyes, it is crucial to exercise caution.
  • Eye Irritation: The product descriptions do not provide specific information about potential eye irritation. However, the eye area is sensitive, and applying cosmetic formulations near the eyes always carries a risk of irritation. It is advisable to perform a patch test first and avoid direct contact with the eyes.

In summary, Copper Peptide may help stimulate new growth in thinning areas of eyebrows and eyelashes, but it is less likely to make existing hairs significantly longer. Use with caution around the eyes.

Updated Review: May 2026

This section was added after reviewing the original answer against current product availability and formulation knowledge at the stated point in time.

As of May 17, 2026, specialized peptide blends are now available that specifically target eyelash and eyebrow length and density. While generic Copper Peptide (GHK-Cu) primarily nourishes the roots and stimulates new growth, advanced ingredients like Long-Lash™ (which combines Myristoyl Pentapeptide-17 and Copper Tripeptide-1) and Pep®-235 (Myristoyl Hexapeptide-16) are specifically designed to stimulate keratin genes, leading to visible lengthening and thickening of the hair strands. For improving density and overall follicle health, Pep®-Brow (Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3) is also a highly effective option. When formulating with these peptides, it is critical to maintain a pH between 4.5 and 7.4 and avoid using chelating agents such as Disodium EDTA or AHAs (like Lactic Acid or Glycolic Acid), as these will deactivate the copper-based components and reduce the formula's effectiveness.
