Using Fragrance Oil for Scented Candles
Question
I would like to inquire if I need to purchase other substances in addition to น้ำหอม (Fragrance) to make scented candles.
The น้ำหอม (Fragrance) I am currently looking at is a ready-made type.
Is it necessary to add other substances, or can I use just the ready-made น้ำหอม (Fragrance)?
Answer
Using Fragrance in Scented Candles
To make scented candles, it is generally recommended to use fragrance oils specifically designed for candle making, rather than ready-made perfumes intended for personal use.
Ready-made perfumes often contain alcohol or other carriers that are not suitable for the high temperatures and composition of candle wax. Using them can result in poor scent throw, uneven burning, or potentially hazardous fumes.
Fragrance oils formulated for candles are designed to mix well with wax and release scent effectively when burned. You can find various fragrance oils suitable for candles, such as Strawberry (Fragrance Oil), Jasmine Fragrance Oil, or specific candle fragrances like Candle Baies or Candle Figuier.
Simply add the appropriate percentage of candle-specific fragrance oil to your melted wax according to the recommended usage rate for the specific oil and wax type you are using. You typically do not need additional substances besides the wax and the candle-specific fragrance oil.
