Question

I would like to ask if the oil-soluble colors from your website can be used in Alcohol base perfume. If so, should the color be added to the alcohol phase or the oil phase?

Answer

Using Oil-Soluble Colors in Alcohol-Based Perfumes

Oil-soluble colors are designed to dissolve in oil-based formulations. Alcohol-based perfumes are primarily composed of alcohol, not oil.

Therefore, oil-soluble colors are generally not suitable for directly coloring alcohol-based perfumes. They will likely not dissolve properly in the alcohol, leading to cloudiness, separation, or uneven color distribution.

These types of colors, such as ReadyMix™ FD&C Yellow No.5 Lake (Oil Based) or Solvent Yellow 16 (CI 12700) (Oil-Soluble), are intended for use in products that contain an oil phase where they can fully dissolve.

If you need to color an alcohol-based perfume, you should look for colors specifically designed to be soluble in alcohol.
