Question
I have skin that is sensitive to chemicals. I have a few questions about using oils for makeup removal:
1. Can I use Grape Seed Oil for makeup removal? Is this a good choice for chemically sensitive skin? Please recommend which oil would be better.
2. For the `Oil Milk™ 20%` formula, is the usage method to apply to a dry face and then add water to emulsify into a milk?
3. Does the `Oilsify` formula cause acne? Can I replace `mineral oil` with natural oils in this formula?
Answer
Based on the staff's response:
- Grape Seed Oil for makeup removal: You can use Grape Seed Oil to remove makeup. However, it's not commonly used in cleansing oils because natural oils like Grape Seed Oil have a short shelf life and can easily go rancid (develop an unpleasant smell) compared to synthetic oils. Synthetic oils are generally preferred in cleansing oil formulations for their stability and cost-effectiveness.
- Oil Milk™ 20% usage: For makeup removal using the method you described (applying to dry skin and then adding water to emulsify into a milk), the staff recommends using Oilsify 15 instead. Oilsify 15 was specifically developed for this type of cleansing oil application.
- Oilsify and replacing Mineral Oil: Using a formula with Oilsify should not cause acne if you rinse your face thoroughly with water afterward. You can replace synthetic oils like Mineral Oil with natural oils. However, you should consider the stability issues mentioned earlier regarding natural oils (potential for rancidity and separation over time) and it's recommended to test the stability of your specific formulation.
