Using SKIN-DEFENSE® V in Body Oil with Natural Oils
Question
I am formulating a body oil using natural oils like Avocado Oil and Shea Butter Light Oil, and I want to add Pure-Phytosterols™ (SKIN-DEFENSE® V). I have a few questions:
- Can SKIN-DEFENSE® V be dissolved in these oils without using heat?
- Can the resulting mixture be applied directly to the skin?
- Will the formulation separate if I use SKIN-DEFENSE® V at a concentration of 1-1.5%?
Answer
Using Pure-Phytosterols™ in Body Oil with Natural Oils
Regarding your questions about using Pure-Phytosterols™ (SKIN-DEFENSE® V) in a body oil formulation with natural oils like Avocado Oil and Shea Butter Light Oil:
Solubility without heat: Yes, Pure-Phytosterols™ can be dissolved in natural oils such as Avocado Oil and Shea Butter Light Oil without requiring heat. While it can withstand heat, dissolution is possible at room temperature.
Direct skin application: Absolutely. Once dissolved, the mixture can be applied directly to the skin. Both Avocado Oil and Shea Butter Light Oil are excellent natural emollients that provide moisturizing and skin-nourishing benefits.
Separation at 1-1.5%: At a concentration of 1-1.5%, separation is unlikely. This usage rate is well within the recommended range for Pure-Phytosterols™ (1-5%), and when properly mixed into the oil phase, it should remain stable.
Pure-Phytosterols™ is a beneficial ingredient for restoring skin structure and barrier function, increasing elasticity, and stimulating collagen and hyaluronic acid production. Combining it with nourishing oils like Avocado Oil and Shea Butter Light Oil creates a potent body oil for skin health and moisturization.
