Using Titanium Dioxide Powder in Waterproof Sunscreen Formula
Question
How can I use Titanium Dioxide 200nm EasyDisperse™ powder in a waterproof sunscreen formula based on a Water-in-Oil emulsion, and how should I incorporate Beige Iron and Silk Mica Powder into the formula?
Answer
Hello,
Yes, you can use Titanium Dioxide 200nm EasyDisperse™ powder in your waterproof sunscreen formula. The staff has provided an adjusted formula for using this powder.
Here is the formula and instructions:
Formula using Titanium Dioxide 200nm EasyDisperse™:
- Oil Phase:
- Titanium Dioxide 200nm EasyDisperse™: 5-10%
- Dimethicone (Light, Low-Odor): 5%
- Cyclomethicone: 5%
- Water-in-Oil EZ™: 2%
- Water Phase:
- Mild Preserved Eco: 1%
- Water: Remaining percentage
Instructions:
- Blend the oil phase ingredients together using a blender.
- Blend the water phase ingredients together.
- While continuously blending the oil phase at a speed of at least 1000 rpm, slowly add the water phase (which will be a liquid gel) little by little into the oil phase.
- Continue blending until the mixture is uniform.
Adding Beige Iron and Silk Mica Powder:
You can add beige iron and Silk Mica Powder directly into the cream and blend them in during the final step, after the oil and water phases have been combined and emulsified.
Please note that using Titanium Dioxide 200nm EasyDisperse™ powder may result in a whiter finish on the skin compared to the liquid version.
Hope this helps!
