You can use this base as is or add small amounts of other ingredients like fragrance or colorants if desired.

Option 2: Building from Scratch with Gelling Agents

To create a water-based gel from scratch, you will primarily need water and a gelling agent. A suitable gelling agent for creating the structure of the pomade is Sepimax Zen. This powder thickener is added to the water phase and blended to form a gel.

Water-based gels can sometimes feel sticky. To improve the texture and reduce tackiness, you can incorporate WaterSil™ 8/12 (Water Gel Detackifier) into your water phase. This ingredient helps provide a smoother, less sticky feel on the hair.

Remember that any water-based formulation will require a preservative to prevent microbial growth.
