Question

My sunscreen formula is causing flaking (pilling) on the skin. Can you provide a revised formula, perhaps a Water-in-Oil type, that adheres better and prevents this issue? I'd like to know the recommended formula and mixing procedure.

Final Recommended Formula (Water-in-Oil System):

  • Water Part:
    • Powder cream: 2%
    • Water: 58.3%
    • Light Cream Maker: 1%
  • Oil Part:
    • Water Capsule: 3%
    • SPF Protect Ultra: 25%
    • LipidSoft Dry: 5%
    • Titanium Dioxide Nano EasyDisperse: 3%
    • BB Micro Silk: 2%
    • Beige Iron Oxides EasyMix: 0.7%
  • Phenonip® P4: 1%

Mixing Instructions:

  1. Mix the ingredients for the Water Part together until you get a cloudy gel.
  2. Mix the ingredients for the Oil Part together. Use slight heat to help them combine.
  3. Add the Oil Part into the Water Part all at once.
  4. Stir or blend the mixture. Blending strongly will result in a thicker cream, while blending gently will result in a thinner cream. Adjust according to your desired texture.
  5. Add the Phenonip® P4 (preservative) and mix until combined.
  6. Allow the mixture to cool.

Answer

Based on the conversation, the staff recommended a revised sunscreen formula using a Water-in-Oil system to address the flaking issue. Here is the final recommended formula and instructions:

Final Recommended Formula (Water-in-Oil System):

This Water-in-Oil formula is expected to adhere better to the skin and avoid the flaking problem encountered with the previous formula.
