คำถาม

Can the Salicylic Acid product sold as BHA be used in food? If not, do you have food-grade Butylated Hydroxyanisole (BHA) available, and could you recommend it?

คำตอบ

Butylated Hydroxyanisole (BHA) for Food Use

There seems to be a common point of confusion between Salicylic Acid, which is sometimes referred to as BHA in cosmetics, and Butylated Hydroxyanisole (BHA), which is an antioxidant used in both cosmetics and food.

  1. The product you linked (Product ID 148, Salicylic Acid (BHA)) is Salicylic Acid. This ingredient is primarily used in cosmetics for exfoliation, acne treatment, and dandruff control. It is not suitable for food use.

  2. We do have Butylated Hydroxyanisole available. We have identified two products:

    • Butylated Hydroxyanisole (Product ID 7584): This is an antioxidant used to maintain ingredient quality in formulations.
    • Butylated Hydroxyanisole (Product ID 9531): This product description specifically mentions it is commonly used in food to prevent rancidity, indicating it is the food grade version you are looking for.

Therefore, the Salicylic Acid product (ID 148) is not food grade. The Butylated Hydroxyanisole product with Product ID 9531 is the food grade option available.
