Can Mannitol be added to shampoo formulations? If so, will it affect the foam?
I ordered Ichthammol and made a gel using Pro Polymer Gel Maker. The formula is: Water to 100%, EDTA 0.2%, Glycerin 1%, Mild Preserved 1%, Pro Polymer 0.60%, Ichthammol 5%. I initially mixed all ingredients to form the gel base, then added Ichthammol and blended, but it was very thick and did not dissolve. So, I heated the beaker containing all ingredients to no more than 60 degrees Celsius for 10-15 minutes. After re-blending, the formula mixed together. The Ichthammol dispersed in the formula, and I've attached a picture to show how it dispersed. It looks like fibrous strands. Is this how it is supposed to disperse?
I would like to know if this formula is suitable. I want it to be a clear, colorless, odorless gel with a light, easy-to-spread texture. It should be usable as a sleeping mask or a wash-off mask. I specifically want to use it after laser or chemical peeling treatments. After just the first use (emphasizing immediate results, which is why I chose Mineral Ready and Yeast Resurface, but I'm not sure if I understand correctly), I want the skin to feel firm, look glass-like and radiant, with reduced pore size, and also help soothe and reduce irritation from post-treatment (which is why I chose beta glucan). The formula is as follows: Water 66.4% Glycerin Gel 10% beta glucan 10% 1,3-Propanediol (Natural) 5% Yeast Resurface 3% Mineral Ready™ (Mn+Zn+Cu) 2% NAT RIBOSE 1.5% Mild Preserved Eco 1% Carbomer 940 1% My questions are: 1) Will 10% beta glucan precipitate? I'm worried about it settling as powder in the gel. If I remove beta glucan, are there any good alternatives that can help reduce redness or skin inflammation without making the gel too heavy or causing precipitation? 2) What are the shelf life and storage conditions? Will it oxidize or lose quality easily? Should a cream containing Mineral Ready be stored in the refrigerator if it's mixed into the formula? 4) What is the maximum percentage of Yeast Resurface for a mild and gentle peeling effect? 5) Mineral Ready is used to add oxygen to the skin. Besides this ingredient, are there any other ingredients that can replace it and provide similarly good skin oxygenation?
I would like to mix **Encapsulated Salicylic Acid** (Liquid, **Timed-Release**, **Wash-Off**) into my existing shampoo. Based on the product information, there are compatibility conditions: **Encapsulated Salicylic Acid** cannot be combined with the following ingredients: * Base: Aloe Vera Gel, Hyaluronic Gel * thickener/Emulsifier: Pro Polymer, Light Cream Maker, Satin Mousse, Xantham Gum, Natural Organic thickener If creating a gel texture is desired, it can only be done using Hydroxyethyl Cellulose or HPMC or non-ionic thickener. My current shampoo has the following ingredients: * Aqua (Purified Water) * Sodium Cocoamphoacetate * Lauryl Glucoside * Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate * Sodium Lauryl Glucose Carboxylate * Decyl Glucoside * Cocamidopropyl Betaine * Glycerin * Panthenol * Potassium Sorbate * Citric Acid * Polysorbate 20 * Phenoxyethanol * Menthol * *Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil * *Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice * *Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Oil * *Achillea Millefolium Extract * *Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract * *Equisetum Arvense Extract * *Eucalyptus Globulus (Eucalyptus) Oil * *Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Leaf Extract * *Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil * *Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract * *Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract * *Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Extract * *Tussilago Farfara (Coltsfoot) Flower Extract * *Urtica Dioica (Nettle) Extract Can I mix **Encapsulated Salicylic Acid** (Liquid, **Timed-Release**, **Wash-Off**) into this shampoo based on its ingredient list? I have the ingredient list for Clinique Moisture Surge: Water\Aqua\Eau, Dimethicone, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Trisiloxane, Trehalose, Sucrose, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Hydroxyethyl Urea, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Silybum Marianum (Lady’S Thistle) Extract, Betula Alba (Birch) Bark Extract, Saccharomyces Lysate Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Water, Thermus Thermophillus Ferment, Caffeine, Sorbitol, Palmitoyl Hexapeptide-12, Sodium Hyaluronate, Caprylyl Glycol, Oleth-10, Sodium Polyaspartate, Saccharide Isomerate, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Tocopheryl Acetate, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Glyceryl Polymethacrylate, Tromethamine, PEG-8, Hexylene Glycol, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Disodium EDTA , BHT, Phenoxyethanol, Red 4 (Ci 14700), Yellow 5 (CI 19140). [ILN44001] The cream has a thick, jelly-like, semi-gel semi-cream texture that absorbs quickly and is non-sticky, suitable for dry skin. I want to replicate just the base formula (I will add my own active ingredients). However, there are 4 ingredients I need help with. Could you please recommend alternative ingredients available from MySkinRecipes? -What is the function of Sucrose in this formula? -Oleth-10 is listed as a non-polar emulsifier / surfactant. What is its role? -What is Sodium Polyaspartate? What is its function in this formula? -What is Sorbitol? What is its function in this formula? Additionally, I have some questions: 1. Based on this formula, can you estimate the percentage of Dimethicone and Trisiloxane used? 2. If I add QuikBlur™ (Polymethylsilsesquioxane Solution), will it be considered part of the silicone phase? 3. Besides Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer (Pro Polymer), what other emulsifier(s) might be used in this Clinique formula to help emulsify silicone? I am unsure what percentage of Pro Polymer™ (Gel Maker) I should use to emulsify all the silicone and achieve a cream texture that absorbs easily, feels dry quickly after application, is non-sticky, and doesn't make the skin look greasy, as I intend to apply skincare and then makeup immediately. Thank you in advance for your advice.

However, when actually mixed, after dissolving in water, the solution is not homogeneous but appears as the glycol suspended in water, similar to oil floating in water, and does not dissolve clearly like other glycols. The example in the image is 5% in water at room temperature. Could you please explain why this happens and how to resolve it?
