Product Description:
Eltrombopag is primarily used to treat thrombocytopenia, a condition characterized by low platelet counts, which can lead to increased bleeding and bruising. It is commonly prescribed for patients with chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) who have not responded adequately to other treatments. Additionally, it is used in patients with hepatitis C to manage thrombocytopenia, enabling them to undergo interferon-based therapy. Eltrombopag is also effective in treating severe aplastic anemia by stimulating the production of blood cells, including platelets, in patients who are not eligible for bone marrow transplants. It works by mimicking the action of thrombopoietin, a natural protein that promotes platelet production in the bone marrow.
