    Key differentiators of Cellulose Gum:

    • Naturally-derived

    • Low use level

    • Sprayability

    • Effective in challenging systems (low pH, high electrolyte, high temperature)

    • Enables transparent formulations

    • Easy cold processing

    Highlights of Cellulose Gum

    Benefit Detail
Enhanced Sensory Softer, richer, synthetic-like feel
    Viscosity Range* 500 – 15 000 mPa·s
Sustainability High (> 98 % NOC, readily biodegradable, low carbon footprint)

Concentration vs. Viscosity & Yield Value

Cellulose Gum (% t.s.) Viscosity (mPa·s) Yield Value
    0 % ~2 000 ~20
    0.25 % slight ↑
    0.50 % ↑↑ slight ↑
    0.75 % ↑↑↑ slight ↑
    1.0 % peak slight ↑

    Comparable Sensory to Silicone Elastomers

    • Triangle Test (1 % Cellulose Gum vs. 0.5 % silicone elastomer): 50 % of panelists could not detect a difference; “quick-break” noted when they did.

    • After-feel: Cellulose Gum richer during application and noticeably softer after feel.

    • Even at 0.5 % t.s., sensory matches 0.5 % silicone elastomer.

    Key Benefits of Cellulose Gum

Ingredient Features Formulation Benefits Sustainable Benefits
Naturally-derived, readily biodegradable, cold processable Easily dispersible at multiple stages (incl. post-addition); stabilizes O/W emulsions with 5 – 25 % oil; wide pH 3–9; synergizes with fatty alcohols; compatible with organic UV filters & low ZnO; rich, soft, non-sticky sensory NOC = 98 %; readily biodegradable (OECD 301B); low processing impact

    Technology Overview

    pH Stability (1 % t.s., 20 % CCTG, 50 °C / 4 weeks)

Stable viscosity from pH 3 – 9; slight drop only at pH 2.

    Oil Polarity Compatibility (1 % t.s., 20 % oil)

Low , medium , and high  polarity oils all remain stable 4 wks @ 50 °C with negligible viscosity or yield change.

    Electrolyte Tolerance (Na-PCA)

    Standard emulsion tolerates up to 0.5 % Na-PCA at RT & 50 °C.

    Recommended Emulsifiers

Low- to high-HLB non-ionic and anionic systems (e.g., Glucamate SSE-20 + Glucate DO, Glyceryl-stearate-citrate + Glucate SS, Sodium stearyl glutamate, Potassium cetyl phosphate, Pemulen EZ-4U) perform well with Cellulose Gum.

    Shear Stability

Short-term shear ≤ 5 000 rpm has negligible effect; prolonged high shear increases viscosity slightly—formulations are effectively not shear-dependent under normal processing.

    Processing Guidelines (abridged)

    1. Disperse Cellulose Gum in the aqueous phase under moderate agitation.

    2. Adjust pH if required (target 3–9).

    3. Add oil phase (5–25 %) with chosen emulsifier system.

    4. Homogenize (if needed) below 5 000 rpm for minimal viscosity change.

    5. Cool and post-add heat-sensitive actives or additional Cellulose Gum for quick viscosity tuning.

    Hierarchical Structure of Cellulose Gum

    • 100 % monitored wood supply areas

    • Renewable source with certified forest-management practices

    • Full traceability from forest management unit to mill

    • 1.1 M ha conservation areas (2023)

    • Biodiversity projects (e.g., ecological corridors in Brazil)

    Low-Impact Process

    • 88 % of energy from clean, renewable sources (2023)

    • Self-sufficient steam & energy generation

    • 85 % water recirculation

    • Circular use of inorganic solid waste; organic waste reused as biomass fuel

Usage: For adding viscosity (thickener) to gels, serums, creams, or lotions.

Mixing method: Mix in water (water-phase) by stirring or blending at high speed. Until it becomes a complete gel texture. If the formula contains oil or glycerin Mix it in oil (oil-phase) or glycerin first to make it easier to dissolve in water. Because it will spread better. (but not soluble in oil) and then mixed with water to dissolve and create a gel texture

Usage rate: 0.1-2% (according to desired viscosity, recommended 1%)

    Product characteristics: White-light yellow powder

Solubility: Can dissolve in water Please see the mixing method above.

Storage: Can be stored at room temperature. But close the bottle cap tightly. Then completely protected from sunlight or heat. Do not expose to moisture. (Please store in the envelope that comes with a moisture-proof envelope.) *In the case of being exposed to moisture The substance will coagulate. which can still be used But it will take a lot longer to blend or stir to dissolve*

    INCI Name : Xanthan Gum

*The substance does not contain any preservatives. Incorporation into cosmetic formulas requires the use of preservatives to control germs. Because the substance is a powder that comes from nature. Germs can grow easily*
