Product Description:
Relebactam is primarily used in combination with antibiotics to enhance their effectiveness against resistant bacterial infections. It is often paired with imipenem and cilastatin to treat complicated urinary tract infections (cUTIs), complicated intra-abdominal infections (cIAIs), and hospital-acquired bacterial pneumonia (HABP), including ventilator-associated bacterial pneumonia (VABP). By inhibiting certain beta-lactamases, enzymes produced by bacteria that confer resistance to antibiotics, relebactam restores the activity of imipenem against otherwise resistant strains. This combination therapy is particularly valuable in healthcare settings where multidrug-resistant pathogens are a significant concern, offering a critical treatment option for patients with limited alternatives.
