Product Description:
Used primarily as a functional monomer in the synthesis of stimuli-responsive polymers, especially those designed for smart materials and optical applications. Its azobenzene moiety enables photo-switching behavior, allowing the polymer to change conformation under light exposure, which is exploited in optical data storage, photoresponsive coatings, and molecular switches. The methacrylate group facilitates free radical polymerization, enabling incorporation into polymer chains, while the hexyl spacer enhances solubility and reduces steric hindrance, improving responsiveness.
