Product Description:
Used primarily in the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). It works by directly inhibiting renin, an enzyme involved in the regulation of blood pressure through the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS). By blocking renin, it reduces the production of angiotensin I and subsequently angiotensin II, a potent vasoconstrictor, leading to relaxation of blood vessels and lower blood pressure. It is prescribed as a monotherapy or in combination with other antihypertensive agents when blood pressure is not adequately controlled. Its use may reduce the risk of cardiovascular events associated with chronic high blood pressure. Not typically used in patients with severe renal impairment or those on dual RAAS blockade due to increased risk of adverse effects.
