Product Description:
Asulam is primarily used as a selective herbicide in agriculture and forestry. It controls a wide range of broadleaf weeds and some grasses, especially bracken fern, which is difficult to manage with other herbicides. It is commonly applied in non-crop areas, along roadsides, and in forestry plantations to reduce competition from unwanted vegetation.
In crop protection, Asulam is used in certain vegetable crops and tea plantations where it selectively targets weeds without harming the main crop when applied correctly. Its systemic action allows it to be absorbed by foliage and translocated to the roots, providing effective control of perennial weeds.
Due to its water solubility, Asulam is often applied as a foliar spray and is valued for its relatively low persistence in the environment, reducing long-term soil residue concerns. It plays a role in integrated weed management programs, particularly where mechanical control is impractical or where resistance to other herbicides has developed.
