Found in fire retardants and antiseptics due to its ability to inhibit combustion and microbial growth. It is also used in small-scale gardening applications to lower soil pH and provide aluminum to plants, especially in the cultivation of hydrangeas, influencing flower color.
Additionally, it plays a role in the production of other aluminum compounds and in some cosmetic products as an astringent.
