Product Description:
CDN1163 is a positive allosteric modulator of the sarco/endoplasmic reticulum Ca²⁺-ATPase (SERCA) pump. It enhances SERCA activity, which plays a key role in maintaining calcium homeostasis within cells. This compound has shown potential in research related to neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Parkinson’s disease, where disrupted calcium signaling contributes to neuronal dysfunction and death. By restoring SERCA function, CDN1163 helps reduce endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and improves protein folding capacity, thereby protecting neurons from stress-induced damage.
It has also been investigated in models of type 2 diabetes, where ER stress in pancreatic beta cells impairs insulin production. CDN1163 has demonstrated the ability to improve beta-cell function and insulin secretion by alleviating ER stress. Additionally, its application extends to cardiac research, as SERCA2a dysfunction is linked to heart failure, and enhancing SERCA activity may support improved cardiac contractility.
Due to its ability to target cellular stress pathways, CDN1163 is primarily used as a research tool to explore disease mechanisms involving ER stress and calcium dysregulation, with potential therapeutic implications across multiple conditions.
