Product Description:
Used primarily in electrochemical applications, particularly as a supporting electrolyte in non-aqueous solvents for cyclic voltammetry and other electrochemical studies. Its high solubility in polar organic solvents and good ionic conductivity make it suitable for use in lithium-ion battery research and dye-sensitized solar cells. The anion is chemically stable and exhibits low nucleophilicity, minimizing unwanted side reactions. Also employed in phase-transfer catalysis and as a source of fluoride ions in certain synthetic transformations when decomposition occurs. Its role in material science includes use in the synthesis of metal-organic frameworks and other coordination compounds where non-coordinating anions are required.
