Product Description:
Used primarily in the semiconductor industry for etching silicon wafers due to its ability to dissolve glass and silicon compounds. Widely applied in petroleum refining to promote alkylation reactions that enhance fuel octane ratings. Employed in metal cleaning and pickling processes to remove oxides and scale from stainless steel and other alloys. Common in the production of fluorocarbons and refrigerants as a fluorinating agent. Utilized in laboratory settings for digestion of samples containing silicates or refractory materials. Also found in rust removers and household cleaning products for removing cement and grout residues, though such uses are limited due to high toxicity. Requires extreme care in handling because of its ability to penetrate tissue and cause severe burns or systemic poisoning.
