Used as a phosphorescent emitter in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), particularly in green to yellow-emitting devices. Its strong spin-orbit coupling due to the iridium metal center enables efficient triplet harvesting, resulting in high electroluminescence efficiency. Commonly doped into host materials in the emissive layer of OLEDs for display and lighting applications. Exhibits good thermal stability and film-forming properties, making it suitable for vacuum-deposited OLED fabrication.
