Product Description:
Used as an immunosuppressive agent in organ transplantation, particularly in kidney and liver grafts, to prevent rejection. Commonly prescribed in Japan and some Asian countries as an alternative to mycophenolate mofetil. Works by inhibiting purine synthesis, thereby suppressing lymphocyte proliferation. Also used in the treatment of autoimmune diseases such as lupus nephritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Often part of combination therapy with corticosteroids and calcineurin inhibitors. Has a favorable safety profile with lower incidence of gastrointestinal and bone marrow toxicity compared to other immunosuppressants.
