Product Description:
PicoGreen is widely used for quantifying double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) in solution with high sensitivity, capable of detecting as low as 25 picograms per milliliter of dsDNA. It is commonly applied in molecular biology and biochemistry labs for accurate DNA measurement in samples such as PCR products, restriction digests, and DNA extractions. The reagent exhibits a strong fluorescence enhancement when bound to dsDNA, allowing detection using a fluorescence microplate reader or fluorometer. Due to its minimal interference from RNA, proteins, and free nucleotides, PicoGreen is preferred over UV absorbance methods like Nanodrop, especially for low-concentration samples. It is also used in cell-based assays to estimate cell number based on total DNA content and in quality control steps prior to next-generation sequencing and other sensitive downstream applications.
