Product Description:
Remogliflozin etabonate is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It functions by inhibiting the sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) in the kidneys, which plays a key role in reabsorbing glucose from the filtrate back into the bloodstream. By blocking this transporter, the compound promotes the excretion of excess glucose through urine, thereby helping to lower blood glucose levels. This mechanism is independent of insulin, making it suitable for patients with insulin resistance. It is being developed as an oral antihyperglycemic agent and may offer benefits in improving glycemic control without increasing the risk of hypoglycemia when used as monotherapy. Additionally, due to its action on glucose excretion, it may contribute to modest weight loss and blood pressure reduction in diabetic patients.
