Plays a key role in the synthesis of Ziegler-Natta catalysts for polymerization of alkenes. Also utilized in vapor deposition processes to create thin films and corrosion-resistant coatings. Serves as a Lewis acid catalyst in various organic transformations, including Friedel-Crafts reactions.
