Trilaureth-4 Phosphate is a high performance O/W emulsifier for the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. It has a HLB value of 14 and can be used in formulations containing polar oils and UV filters, giving your emulsions high stability and excellent hand feel.
Main functions and features
Anionic surfactant and O/W emulsifier (Oil-in-Water emulsifier)
Solubility aid (Solubilizer & dispersant)
Provides viscosity and gloss to emulsions even at low dosages.
Ready for use at room temperature (cold-processable) without further pH adjustment.
High HLB value, helps to combine oil and UV filter well.
Soluble in water and organic solvents, wide pH range.
General use
Skincare: Lotion, Cream, Milk
Sunscreen products: Supports UV filtering
Shampoo & Conditioner and Hair Styling Gel
Wet wipes & deodorant roll-on
Makeup: Foundation, BB cream, remover
Usage Rates & Formula Adjustment Guidelines
Recommended concentration:
1–3 wt % in common emulsions.
Up to 5 wt % in systems requiring extra stability.
Cold-process formula adjustment steps:
Dissolve Trilaureth-4 Phosphate in water (room temperature or warm ~40 °C).
The lipid phase (oil, ester, UV filter) was prepared at ~60 °C.
The fat phase is added to the aqueous phase under high-shear agitation.
Reduce the temperature to ≤40 °C and check the pH to ~5.5–7.0.
Use: As an emulsifier or a coagulant in lotions or creams.
Mixing method: Mix in oil-phase or water.
Usage rate: 1-5%
Product characteristics: Light-colored clear liquid
Solubility: Soluble in oil.
Storage: Can be stored at room temperature, but close the bottle tightly and keep away from sunlight or heat. The product has a shelf life of at least 2 years.
