Syringe Filter Membrane (25mm×0.22μm Organic Nylon 66, Pack of 100)
Disposable syringe filter designed for laboratory sample preparation with Nylon 66 (organic, hydrophilic) membrane. This SKU combines a 25 mm housing and 0.22μm pore size, supplied as a pack of 100 filters.
The filter is intended for polishing and clarifying liquids before analysis, protecting chromatography columns, analytical instruments and microbiological tests from particles and particulates.
Membrane material and performance:
- Membrane type: Nylon 66 (organic, hydrophilic).
- Characteristics: Good mechanical strength and chemical resistance to many aqueous and organic solvents; relatively low extractables and moderate protein binding.
- Best suited for: Routine filtration of aqueous and many organic samples in QC laboratories, sample prep before chromatography and general liquid clarification.
- Recommended maximum filtration temperature: 60°C.
Diameter, flow area and sample volume:
- This product: 25 mm diameter (effective area ≈ 3.9 cm²), typical working sample volume 10–100 mL per filtration.
- All diameters in this series share very low residual (hold-up) volume (≤0.1 mL) and a robust PP housing rated to ≥6.9 bar burst pressure.
Pore size selection:
- 0.22μm on this SKU: Final sterilizing or bioburden-reducing filtration; removal of bacteria and fine particles before analysis or filling.
- 0.45μm options in the same series: Clarification and removal of visible particulates or precipitates where full sterilizing-grade filtration is not required.
Housing and flow table:
| Filter diameter | Effective area | Residual volume | Typical sample volume | Housing material |
|---|
| 13 mm | 0.8 cm² | ≤0.1 mL | 2–10 mL | PP housing |
| 25 mm | 3.9 cm² | ≤0.1 mL | 10–100 mL | PP housing |
| 33 mm | 4.5 cm² | ≤0.1 mL | 50–300 mL | PP housing |
Membrane comparison within this syringe filter series:
| Membrane material | Key characteristics | Best suited for | Recommended max temperature |
|---|
| MCE (mixed cellulose ester) | High porosity and very uniform pore size, naturally hydrophilic, low adsorption and fast flow rate; limited resistance to strong organic solvents. | Filtration of pure water, buffer solutions and water-based cosmetic or biological samples where low extractables and low protein binding are desired. | 60°C |
| Nylon 66 (organic, hydrophilic) | Good mechanical strength and chemical resistance to many aqueous and organic solvents; relatively low extractables and moderate protein binding. | Routine filtration of aqueous and many organic samples in QC laboratories, sample prep before chromatography and general liquid clarification. | 60°C |
| PES (polyethersulfone, hydrophilic) | High porosity and uniform pores, intrinsically hydrophilic with very low protein and drug adsorption; fast flow even with viscous buffers. | Biological and protein-containing samples, culture media, serums and buffers used in biopharmaceutical and cosmetic R&D. | 100°C |
| PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene, hydrophobic) | Excellent chemical resistance to almost all acids, bases and organic solvents; high temperature stability; naturally hydrophobic (requires pre-wetting for aqueous samples). | Filtration of aggressive organic solvents, strong acid/alkali solutions, hot liquids and venting/air or gas filtration. | 100°C |
Typical applications:
- Sample preparation for chromatography (HPLC/LC-MS) and general analytical testing.
- Clarification of cosmetic raw materials, buffer solutions, culture media and water used in R&D laboratories.
- Protection of analytical instruments and membranes by removing particles before injection or measurement.
- Venting and filtration of gases or vapors when PTFE versions are selected.
