Product Description:
Used as a catalyst and acid scavenger in organic synthesis, particularly in the production of pharmaceuticals, dyes, and polymers. Commonly employed in esterification and amidation reactions to neutralize acids and drive reactions to completion. Also serves as a solvent or base in the manufacture of pesticides, rubber additives, and photographic chemicals. In industrial applications, it functions as a curing agent for epoxy resins and as a component in gas treating processes to remove acidic gases like hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide. Additionally found in small amounts in some cosmetic formulations and as a reagent in analytical chemistry.
