Product Description:
Used as a solvent in laboratories and industrial applications, particularly for resins, lacquers, and cellulose esters due to its ability to mix with both water and organic solvents. Commonly employed as a reaction medium in organic synthesis where a polar, aprotic environment is needed. Serves as a starting material or intermediate in the production of other chemicals, including pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. Frequently used as a denaturant for ethanol, making it unsuitable for consumption while preserving its utility as an industrial alcohol. Also utilized in the preparation of tert-butyl hydroperoxide, an important oxidizing agent in chemical manufacturing. In some cases, used as a fuel additive to improve octane rating and reduce knocking in gasoline engines.
