Used primarily to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It works by blocking the action of angiotensin II, a substance that causes blood vessels to narrow. By relaxing blood vessels, it helps lower blood pressure, reducing the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and kidney problems. It is often prescribed when other blood pressure medications are not effective enough. Typically taken once daily, it can be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents.
