Mechanism of Action
The lipophilic decyl (C₁₀) side chain of decyloxazolidinone inserts into and disrupts the cell membranes of Malassezia spp., impairing fungal proliferation and flake formation.
Anti-Dandruff Efficacy
In vitro testing of synthetic shampoos containing 0.1–0.2 % decyloxazolidinone demonstrated significant inhibition of Malassezia growth, and a clinical pilot (twice-weekly use) showed a >50 % reduction in scalp flaking scores by week 3 (Shah et al. 2017).
Scalp Smoothing & Itch Relief
Subjects using a 0.1 % decyloxazolidinone shampoo twice weekly reported marked improvement in scalp hydration and a 40 – 60 % decrease in itching within four weeks (Vijay et al. 2019).
Formulation & Compatibility
Decyloxazolidinone is a stable, transparent liquid added directly to the aqueous or surfactant phase at 40–60 °C without pre-emulsification. It remains fully compatible with anionic, nonionic, and amphoteric surfactants, preserving shampoo clarity and viscosity (Smith & Brown 2022).
Usage: For treatment products and prevents dandruff
Mixing method: Dissolve in water.
Usage rate: 0.1-0.4%
Product appearance: clear liquid
Solubility: soluble in water
Storage: Can be stored at room temperature. But close the bottle cap tightly. Then completely protected from sunlight or heat. The product has a minimum shelf life of 3 years.
