Used primarily as an intermediate in the synthesis of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), particularly those with propionic acid structures. It plays a key role in constructing the core structures of such drugs, which are widely used to treat inflammation, pain, and fever. Due to its substituted phenyl and carboxylic acid functionality, it is valuable in medicinal chemistry for building bioactive molecules with analgesic and antipyretic properties.
