Pure-Phytol™ is a high-purity diterpene alcohol derived from chlorophyll degradation, serving as a multifunctional cosmetic ingredient with exceptional anti-aging and skin conditioning properties.
Recent scientific research has demonstrated Pure-Phytol™'s remarkable ability to down-regulate pro-inflammatory genes (TNF-α, IL-6, IL-8, COX-2) while increasing NRF2/HO-1 cytoprotective signaling in human keratinocytes. Studies have shown it reduces H₂O₂-induced cellular senescence and promotes ERK-mediated proteasomal degradation of MITF in melanocytes, supporting its dual action in anti-aging and skin brightening applications.
As a highly lipophilic compound (log Kow ≈ 8.3) with a skin-sensitization NESIL of 2700 µg/cm², Pure-Phytol™ offers excellent safety margins for cosmetic formulations. It demonstrates antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus through membrane-disruptive mechanisms and synergizes with preservative systems, making it ideal for modern clean beauty formulations.
Usage: Anti-aging serums, brightening creams, soothing lotions, sensitive skin care products, and luxury facial oils
How to mix:
- Add Pure-Phytol™ to the oil phase of your formulation
- Heat gently if needed for incorporation (below 60°C recommended)
- Can be combined with other lipophilic actives and antioxidants for synergistic effects
Usage rate: 0.05-0.3% (follow IFRA guidelines for specific product categories)
