Product Description:
Tazobactam sodium salt is primarily used as a beta-lactamase inhibitor in combination with beta-lactam antibiotics, such as piperacillin. It helps restore the effectiveness of antibiotics against beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, which would otherwise break down the antibiotic. This combination is widely used to treat a variety of infections, including intra-abdominal infections, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, and septicemia. By inhibiting the enzyme that confers bacterial resistance, tazobactam extends the spectrum of the accompanying antibiotic, making it effective against both aerobic and anaerobic resistant strains.
