Darexaban is an investigational anticoagulant that inhibits factor Xa, a key enzyme in the blood coagulation cascade, to prevent clot formation. It has been studied for preventing stroke and systemic embolism in patients with atrial fibrillation, as well as for managing venous thromboembolism, including deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. Clinical trials, including those for postoperative prophylaxis after knee or hip replacement surgery, have evaluated its efficacy and safety compared to other anticoagulants.
