Used in the treatment of certain hematologic malignancies, particularly relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and higher-risk myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS). It functions as a potent and selective inhibitor of the chromatin remodeling protein BRD9, which plays a role in gene expression regulation within cancer cells. By targeting BRD9, it disrupts oncogenic transcriptional programs, leading to cancer cell death. Currently under clinical investigation in phase 1/2 trials to evaluate safety, dosing, and efficacy alone and in combination with other agents like venetoclax or hypomethylating drugs. Shows promise in patients who have limited response to standard therapies.
