Acts as a precursor in the synthesis of silicon-based compounds for semiconductor materials. Employed in some solid-state battery research as a component in sulfide-based electrolytes. Also investigated for use in lithium-sulfur battery systems to improve energy density and cycling stability. Finds limited application in pyrotechnics as a reducing agent in certain compositions.
