Used primarily to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and heart failure. Helps lower the risk of death after a heart attack. Works by relaxing blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more easily. Also prescribed to improve survival in patients with left ventricular dysfunction following myocardial infarction. May be used in combination with other medications like diuretics or beta-blockers for better control of blood pressure.
