Procaine hydrochloride is widely used as a local anesthetic in medical and dental procedures. Its fast-acting nature makes it suitable for short-duration procedures. Additionally, it is sometimes used in diagnostic nerve blocks to identify the source of pain. Outside of anesthesia, it has been explored in veterinary medicine for similar purposes. Due to its vasodilatory effects, it is occasionally included in formulations to improve blood flow in certain treatments. However, its use has declined with the advent of newer anesthetics with fewer side effects.
