Flumioxazin Solution is widely used as a pre-emergent and early post-emergent herbicide in agriculture. It effectively controls a broad spectrum of broadleaf weeds and some grass weeds in crops such as soybeans, cotton, peanuts, and vegetables. It is especially valued for its activity against difficult-to-control weeds, including glyphosate-resistant species.
The chemical works by inhibiting protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO), an enzyme critical in chlorophyll synthesis. This disruption leads to the accumulation of toxic compounds in plant cells, causing rapid desiccation and death of susceptible weeds.
Flumioxazin is often applied in reduced-tillage and no-till farming systems due to its strong performance in these conditions. It is also used in orchards, vineyards, and certain row crops for residual weed control.
