Used primarily in hormonal therapy, especially in the treatment of gynecological disorders related to progesterone deficiency. It has been employed to manage conditions such as irregular menstruation, endometriosis, and secondary amenorrhea. Due to its progestogenic activity, it helps regulate the menstrual cycle and support the secretory phase of the endometrium. It has also been used in fertility treatments and to prevent miscarriage in cases of luteal phase insufficiency. Though largely replaced by newer progestins, it remains a reference compound in reproductive endocrinology research.
