ReadyMix™ D&C Red No.28 Lake (Isododecane Based) is an isododecane-based, pre-dispersed red lake color paste for oil-phase and silicone-compatible color cosmetic systems.

The dispersion contains 30% CI 45410 (D&C Red No.28 Lake) carried in volatile isododecane with lecithin and polyglyceryl-3 diisostearate as wetting/dispersing aids. This format reduces the time and shear normally required to wet lake powder, improves color uniformity, and helps formulators dose red lake colorant reproducibly in anhydrous, emulsion, and makeup systems.

Use this product when a strong red lake needs to be incorporated into lip color, foundation, blush, balm, stick, oil gel, or makeup-base formats without starting from dry pigment. The isododecane carrier gives good spread, quick dry-down, and compatibility with many hydrocarbon, ester, wax, and silicone-phase systems.

Product Description: ReadyMix™ D&C Red No.28 Lake (Isododecane Based) is designed as a color-intensity concentrate rather than a skin-active ingredient. The colorant fraction is CI 45410, while the carrier system helps keep the pigment wetted and easier to disperse during production. Because the product is already dispersed, final shade adjustment can be done by small additions and by milling/shear only as needed for the final texture.

Usage: Lipstick, lip gloss, lip balm, blush, foundation, cream makeup, oil gel, anhydrous color bases, and oil/silicone phase makeup additives. Confirm local color-additive rules for the target application area.

Mixing method:

- Pre-mix the container before weighing if any settling is observed.

- Add into the oil, wax, hydrocarbon, ester, or compatible silicone phase and mix until the shade is completely uniform.

- Avoid unnecessary heating above 60°C; if the base must be heated, add during cool-down where the formula remains fluid enough for even dispersion.

- For emulsions, disperse into the oil phase before emulsification or post-add into a compatible pre-emulsified base with sufficient shear.

Usage rate: 0.1–10% of the finished formula, adjusted to target shade intensity. Typical trial level: 1–3%; because this product contains 30% CI 45410, 2% product delivers about 0.6% colorant.

Solubility: Not water-soluble. Dispersible/miscible in oils, hydrocarbons, esters, wax phases, and many silicone-compatible systems; always test final compatibility because wax load, silicone type, and emulsifier system can affect pigment uniformity.

Storage: Store tightly closed at room temperature, protected from heat, ignition sources, and direct light. Mix before use if phase separation or pigment settling is seen.
