Used in research for treating solid tumors, particularly glioblastoma. Acts as an inhibitor of integrins αvβ3 and αvβ5, which play key roles in tumor angiogenesis and cancer cell survival. By blocking these integrins, it disrupts blood vessel formation in tumors and can induce apoptosis in cancer cells. Has been evaluated in clinical trials for brain cancers, often in combination with radiation and chemotherapy. Also studied for anti-angiogenic effects in other cancers and ocular diseases involving abnormal blood vessel growth.
