The PEG-12 modification allows this typically hydrophobic silicone to become semi-hydrophilic, enabling compatibility with both water and oil phases in formulations.
Unlike traditional dimethicone, Bis-PEG-12 Dimethicone offers reduced occlusivity and improved wash-off properties, making it ideal for lightweight formulations. Its unique structure enables it to function as both a conditioning agent and a mild emulsifier, particularly effective in high-alcohol formulations
Usage: Suitable for moisturizers, serums, hair conditioners, styling products, makeup primers, sunscreens, and alcohol-based foaming products. Particularly effective in leave-on treatments and color cosmetics.
How to mix:
- Add to the oil phase or silicone phase of formulation at temperatures below 60°C
- Can be directly dispersed in water with gentle stirring
- For alcohol-based products, pre-dissolve in alcohol before adding water phase
- Ensure thorough mixing for even distribution throughout the formula
